circa 1795: Robert Treat Paine (1731 - 1814). American stateman, graduated from Harvard College 1749, practised law in Massachusetts, a friend of John Adams and John Hancock, he was involved early in anti-British activities. One of the 5 original MA delegate to the Continental Congress, signed the Olive Branch Petititon (to George III) 1775 and the Declaration of Independence 1776.
